When it comes to learning, kids learn best if they are having fun through exploration. The problem is, we assume that when they start school, the fun is no longer a necessity. This could not be further from the truth. All kids learn best through interaction. It does not make any difference how old they are. The Stress of Learning
Once kids start preschool and kindergarten, learning takes on more routine. It becomes memorizing numbers, letters, words, facts, etc. It becomes less fun. People telling kids what to do and how to do it. It is instructions that are confusing and hard to follow. Where is the fun in that? It isn’t fun. It is stressful and it can set the tone for every learning experience in school from that moment forward.

The way to counter the stress of learning is to figure out how to make it fun for that child again. This may include playing math games, word games, and other ways to build skills. Ways that are more fun than to be told sit down and focus on learning this right now.
When working on math enrichment, teachers will give kids the opportunity to play while they learn. They will play games in groups, sort color cubes and learn to count them as the do it. They will use a variety of toys to practice their skills. This type of learning will last throughout the primary school phase. It may start with math skills, but once a child learns the joy of learning again, it can extend into all other areas of school and all subjects.

Our kids, today’s kids, are the leaders that we will depend on in the future. Do you want to take a chance on them if they are bored with learning?
